COI Workbench helps U.S. contractors and small businesses organize certificate requirements before they contact an insurance agent or submit documents to a client.
Why this site exists
Certificate problems are often discovered at the worst moment: after a contractor wins a job, before a crew can enter a site, or while a vendor account is waiting for approval. The problem is not always a lack of insurance. It may be an entity mismatch, a missing supporting endorsement, an expiration gap, or a vague request that the agent cannot act on efficiently.
Most online resources explain what a COI is. COI Workbench is designed around what a user needs to do next: compare, identify, organize, and ask a better question.
Our operating principles
- Privacy first: core tools run in the browser and avoid requesting policy numbers or document uploads.
- Administrative, not advisory: results identify potential document mismatches and questions to raise; they do not determine coverage.
- Primary sources: regulatory and standards-based sources are preferred over unsupported summaries.
- Visible limitations: every tool explains what it can and cannot establish.
- No fabricated authority: the site does not claim that content has been reviewed by a licensed professional unless that review has actually occurred and is identified.
What we are not
COI Workbench is not an insurance company, agency, broker, law firm, compliance platform, certificate issuer, or coverage verification service. It does not bind insurance, alter policy language, communicate with an insurer on a user’s behalf, or guarantee that a client will accept a submission.
